Star Date 6/9/1997 Welcome to Wolf 359 mark 2! 200, yes, there are over 200 pictures now on Wolf359! More will be added every week, not only from the wolfpak but from our current guest artists and new ones we meet along the way! Yes, it's a whole new Wolf 359: new pages, new features, new everything. It's taken two months to get this all organized, but we believe you'll find it's been worth the wait. Over the coming months more and more will be added to the site and its mirr ors across the world. We want Wolf 359 to be the number one resource for 3D SF art and information. The AOL version of the site had well over 80,000 hits in only 5 months. Now that we have unlimited room, fast servers, and our massive new collection of art and information on this site, we hope that you'll enjoy our work even more. When the Original version of Wolf 359 went online via Compuserve, there were a total of 15 images gracing a single page. All 15 were in GIF format--JPEG's didn't work on any web browsers then! A space limit of 500k at the time was huge. I remember wondering how Eric and I could fill it. Now we have gigbytes worth of storage, and internet access speeds are about 100x faster for most of us. This means we can now actually build the site we always wanted.
More meshes will be posted soon, but due to the actions of several individuals we are having to assure they are protected by copyright law. This has caused
a delay in the posting of many of the wolfpak meshes we had hoped would be present when Wolf359 mark 2 came online. However, they will appear soon. And the
meshes we are posting should keep you 3D package owners happy for a while
Please sit back, play your favorite CD and have a browse round. We hope you enjoy the site; let us know by mail if you do. As many of you realize, we really do
answer all our mail--to the tune of about 5000 messages in the last 5 months!
If you strike me down I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine. Matt Allen
On a more somber note, this editorial was written the day Wolf359 mark 2 was due to go online. This was the day a tragic accident
involving someone many people in Britain and around the world held dear passed away. As a mark of respect, we delayed the publication of the new site.
"And who amongst us would not pause in thought and stare at such a bright white light in the night sky?"
